UIV Talents Cup Final in Alkmaar 12th to 14th February 2010
Caspers – Harmsen leaders in Alkmaar

Friday evening started in Alkmaar the final of this winters UIV Talents Cup. With 10 teams from 6 nations the participating was perhaps a little bit less than expected and one sure missed some of the top-teams from the earlier legs of the competition. But still a great compliment to the organisers in Alkmaar for giving the young talents this superb opportunity for and interesting and exiting experience. The riders had a demanding program, close to a "real" evening in a pro 6-days with sprints, elimination, scratchrace and off course Madison.
The Germans Thömel – Faltin won the Madison, but overall leaders after the first evening is the Dutch team Caspers – Harmsen, thanks to the points they scored in the other disciplines.
The UIV Cup Talents Final continues on Saturday and ends on Sunday.

Overall after 1st day:
1 Didier Caspers – Bart Harmsen (NED), 39 p., 2 Kabir Lenzi – Michel Scartezzini (ITA), 28 p., 3 Tino Thömel – Bastian Faltin (GER), 28 p., 4 Dylan van Baarle – Roy Pieters (NED), 24 p.,

UIV talents Cup in Copenhagen 4th - 9th of February 2010

Lander-Kreutzfeldt Were Untouchable

At today’s final of the Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup, Sebastian Lander and Christian Kreutzfeldt were truly untouchable. They controlled the race from start to finish winning the madison by two laps and also finishing the overall standing with two laps. As there was not much doubt about who would win, the fight for second place was really exciting. Danes Hovmand-Greve occupied second to begin with but at the end Corthésy-Perizzolo and Atkins-Mould took a lap and since they had more points, they threw the Danes into fourth position. Hovmand-Greve however managed to take a lap shortly after and in the end claimed second place.

Final standing in Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup:
1 Sebastian Lander – Christian Kreutzfeldt (DEN), 77 p., at 2 laps: 2 Emil Hovmand – Matias Greve (DEN), 52 p., at 3 laps: 3 George Atkins – Jonathan Mould (GBR), 96 p., 4 Damien Corthésy – Loïc Perizzolo (SUI), 78 p., at 4 laps: 5 Ian Moir – Kit Karzen (USA), 46 p., 6 Simon Bigum – Rasmus H. Lander-Kreutzfeldt in Total Control

An incredible display saw Sebastian Lander and Christian Kreutzfeldt totally dominate today’s 5th stage of the UIV Talents Cup. Atkins-Mould, Corthésy-Perizzolo and Hovmand-Greve all tried hard to break down Lander-Kreutzfeldt but especially Lander was too strong. Kreutzfeldt has been out with injury all of December but has managed to get into good shape for the Copenhagen edition of the UIV Talents Cup which was obvious as he rode really well and with Lander’s sheer dominance, the team was untouchable. A solo crash by Emil Hovmand in the beginning of the race did not matter, as he and partner Matias Greve fought extremely hard to take a lap by themselves and are the only team which is on equal laps with Lander-Kreutzfeldt.

Overall in Copenhagen UIV Talents Cup after 5th day:

1 Sebastian Lander – Christian Kreutzfeldt (DEN), 72 p., 2 Emil Hovmand – Matias Greve (DEN), 40 p., at 1 lap: 3 George Atkins – Jonathan Mould (GBR), 71 p., 4 Damien Corthésy – Loïc Perizzolo (SUI), 62 p., 5 Ian Moir – Kit Karzen (USA), 34 p., 6 Simon Bigum – Rasmus H. Lander-Kreutzfeldt Unleashed!

A very strong performance from Danes Sebastian Lander and Christian Kreutzfeldt saw them overcome the Swiss barricades and win 1 lap within the first 10 minutes of the race. Corthésy-Perizzolo tried hard to follow the Danes throughout the race but Lander-Kreutzfeldt were simply too strong and won today’s stage which put them into the lead of the UIV Talents Cup. Emil Hovmand and Matias Greve also managed to take a lap which brought them into second position of the overall standing.

Atkins-Mould Claim Victory But Corthésy-Perizzolo Still in Charge

A tightly fought race in today’s third stage of the UIV Cup saw a very aggressive Sebastian Lander and partner Christian Kreutzfeldt attack over and over again but the Swiss handled the situation nicely. There was only one time where Corthésy and Perizzolo seemed to be about to snap, but they kept their cool and their defensive tactic paid off in the end. British team Atkins-Mould also tried hard to gun down the Swiss but could not break them down either. In the sprint finish Atkins and Mould won and thereby claimed victory on this 3rd stage of the UIV Talents Cup.

Swiss In Control!

A tight race today saw British riders Atkins-Mould win today’s 2nd stage of the UIV Talents Cup. They tried hard to gun down the overall leaders Corthésy and Perizzolo to claim 1st in the overall standing but the Swiss were in complete control and never really seemed like they would let it slip. Danes Lander-Kreutzfeldt also tried hard but with the same result – the Swiss were just too strong.

The Dutch team Michael Vingerling and Nick Stöpler won both the 60 laps pointsrace and the 30 minutes madison on Saturday night, but are still yet to take what could prove to be a very decisive lap from the other top teams. The team of Cladio Imhof and Silvan Dillier is in a class for themselves in the UIV Talents Cup in Zurich.  The other teams have clearly forgotten about them and only concentrates on the fight for the 2nd place, which on the 5th stage switched from Hugontobler – Thièry to Moser – Traber.  But only 5 points separates them, so that might easily change again during the final stage this afternoon.
